Gourdine, Harry "Norman"



"Harry "Norman" Gourdine, a life long resident of Ossining, NY, died early Sunday morning at Phelps Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Harry Norman was born on February 12, 1930 to Henry L. and Lydia E. Gourdine of Ossining. Mr. Gourdine married Lola M. Carrington on September 3, 1953. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Denise Gourdine Moultrie of Charleston, SC; son Norman Michael Gourdine of Ossining; sisters jean Drumgold of Peekskill, NY; Yvonne Gourdine of Ossining; grandson Anthony Nixon also of Charleston, SC; dear friends Alfred and Denise Trotter of Ossining; several cousins, a niece, nephews and a grandniece.

Mr. Gourdine served in the U.S. Army in the Military Police while stationed in Germany. He retired from Maue Oil Co. after 40 years of service. Like his father Henry, Norman enjoyed the panoramic view of the Hudson River and fishing. He leaves unfinished his quest to preserve the legacy of his father's historic impact on the Hudson. He will long be remembered for his wonderful personality, his willingness to help others, his devotion to his family and many friends.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday April 23rd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Waterbury & Kelly F.H. in Ossining, NY. A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 24, 2008 at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery in Ossining, NY.
