Commillar Brown passes away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital - Newburgh Campus. She was 75.
Commillar Brown, also known affectionately as Ment, was a homemaker who for sixty nine years made Newburgh, New York her home.
Born September 29, 1932 in Yanceyville, North Carolina to the late Renty Brown and Catherine Wolmack Brown, she is survived by six sons, Gary, Kenneth and Holland Geter and Craig Pointer all of Newburgh, New York, Franklin Geter of Winter Haven, Florida and Glenn Wolmack of Warner Robbins, Georgia; Four daughters, Rachel, Linda and Lynn Geter and Lucretia Davis all of Newburgh, New York; Two sisters, Denise Brown of Columbia, South Carolina and Diane Brown; One brother, Edward Brown both of Newburgh, New York; One son-in-law, Charles Morgan; Three daughters-in-law, Brenda Dunham Pointer, Gloria Coleman Geter and Alice Cosby Wolmack; Three special friends, Betty Rodriguez, Laura Owens and Paul Velez; Twenty nine grandchildren, Eight great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by parents, daughter, Brenda Morgan, sister, Willa Mae Reed and two brothers, Dennis and John Brown.
Visitation for Commillar Brown will be on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 76 First Street, Newburgh, New York. Service will begin at 12:00 PM, Reverend George H. Smith, Officiating.
Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Middlehope, New York.
