Nancy A. Simmons Johnson
Nancy A. Simmons Johnson was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on February 9, 1930 to the late William F. Simmons and Annie Rhone Simmons. She passed away at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Cornwall on Tuesday January 29, 2008 at the age of 77.

A retired director of admission of the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, Nancy was a longtime member of St. John's African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Highland Falls, New York.  She received a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts Degree from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia.

A sixty nine year resident of Highland Falls, New York, Nancy was a Member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, O’Connor Doyle Post 633 of Highland Falls, New York; Member of the Newburgh and Highland Falls NAACP; Member of the Girl Scout Council in Newburgh and a den mother for the Girl Scout in Highland Falls, New York. She received one of the United States Army Commander’s Awards for Civilian Service. 


She is survived by a loving and devoted husband of forty five years, Chester Johnson, Jr. at home; Daughter, Rita Simmons Whitley of Princeton, New Jersey; Son, Jeffrey A. Johnson of Irvington, New Jersey; Grandson, Jeffrey Baker of Hampton, Virginia; Brother-in-law, Frederick Richardson of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; Sister-in-law, Patricia Milton of Ithaca, New York; Goddaughter, Frances Braxton Downs of Oxon Hill, Maryland. Several other family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Baptist Temple Church, 7-11 William Street, Newburgh, New York. Reverend Byron Williams will be officiating.

Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
