Shirley Sylvia King Jackson was born April 23, 1939 in Surry County, Virginia to the late William King and Lola Mae Newby. The retired IBM technician was a forty eight resident of the Town of Hyde Park. She passed away Saturday, February 2, 2008 at home at the age of 68.
Jackson was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie. She is survived by her four sons, Clyde King and wife Desiree of Poughkeepsie, New York, Gregory Jackson of Catskill, New York, Darren Jackson and wife Michel of Highland, New York and Timothy Jackson and wife Mahal of Monroe, New York; One daughter, Gloria Jackson and Michael Harris of Hyde Park, New York; Five brothers, William King and wife Daisey of Hope Well, Virginia, Ralph King and wife Glenda of Surry County, Virginia, Dwight King of Chesterfield, Virginia, Ronnie King of Poughkeepsie, New York and Garry King and wife Felicia of Odenton, Maryland; Two sisters, Rachel Carroll and husband Oliver of Poughkeepsie, New York and Audrey Wiggins of Richmond, Virginia; Eight grandchildren, Natisha Jackson and Tiana Jackson both of Hyde Park, New York, Damon Jackson and Jada Jackson both of Highland, New York , Dennis King, Mason Bland, Marcedes Lyons and Joarvonia Drake all of Poughkeepsie, New York and One great grandchild, Jaden King of Poughkeepsie, New York. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by husband, Clinton Leroy Jackson, parents, stepmother, Agnes King, five brothers, Alfred, Alvin, Donald, Ross and Roy King and Grandson, Daniel Whitted.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 8, 2008 at Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catherine Street in Poughkeepsie from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with service following at 11:00 AM. Reverend Jesse V. Bottoms will be officiating.
Interment will be at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, NY.
