David J. Hill



POUGHKEEPSIE
David J. Hill, 67, of Poughkeepsie, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Hill was a vending machine mechanic. He was the President of the Knights Social Club and a member of the Tamaneers Singing Club. Born Sept. 23, 1940 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of James and Irene Johnson Hill. Survivors include his wife, Rita Smith of Poughkeepsie; his daughters, Tracie Herring and her husband, David of Poughkeepsie; Alysia Green and her husband, David of Poughkeepsie; Carla Johnson of Poughkeepsie; his sons, Christopher Hill and his wife, Christine of Beacon; Jeffrey Vareas and his wife, Nonet of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Jamie Herring, Nayah Vargas, Rafae McClinton, Latoyia McClinton, David Herring II, Darell Green, Daquez Green, Nicholas Vargas and Rasham McClinton; eight great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Rose Jarret. Viewing will be 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the A.M.E. Zion Church, Poughkeepsie and calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be 7 p.m., Thursday, at the Church, with Pastor Dwight Bolton officiating. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of John H. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, 39 So. Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie.
