NEWBURGH - Mount Saint Mary College director of athletics John Wright is pleased to announce Jessica Mushel as the new head coach for the softball program.
"I am excited and humbled by the opportunity to work with the group of talented student-athletes that make up the Mount Saint Mary College softball team," said Mushel.
A graduate of Siena College, Mushel was a three-year starter for the Saints softball team as a middle infielder and played in 130 career games. As a senior, Mushel batted an impressive .407 inside the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). She served as the team captain in each of her final two seasons and was a three-time member of the MAAC All-Academic team. Mushel also served as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) member at Siena.
Mushel graduate cum laude from Siena in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in history. She completed her master’s degree in literacy at Mount Saint Mary College in 2012.
Concurrently with her softball coaching position, Mushel works on campus as an Operations Assistant and as a Leadership Development Coach.
Mushel is a lifelong native of Hyde Park, New York.
