Mount Saint Mary splits two against rival Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY - Junior Amanda Barrese held Old Westbury to two runs in game two of a Skyline Conference double-header on Sunday. After losing game one 3-2, Barrese and the Knights beat the Panthers by the same score, moving to 4-2 in the conference and 11-9 overall. Old Westbury dropped to 2-6 in the Skyline, 10-12 overall.

Old Westbury scored first in game two when Alyssa Clancy homered in the second inning. Jessica Spero then singled and advanced to third after singles by Jessica Colucci and Alex Heany before scoring on a wild pitch.

Sophomore Stephanie Karcher cut into the lead in the third with a solo home run. In the fourth inning, Senior Victoria DeMarco tied the game when her single to left plated junior Chelsea Hepburn. MSMC went on top in the sixth when senior Ashley Schirripa scored on a sac fly from freshman Julianne Tracy.
