Five Questions with New Paltz Senior Jeanette Scott

SUNY New Paltz Senior Jeanette Scott answers five questions regarding her time at SUNY New Paltz.

By David Lostaglio

Q: Why did you come to New Paltz?

A: "I came here for basketball. That was my main reason at first because I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to play basketball or not, but then I decided that I definitely wanted to play a sport in college. The distance too, its not too far but its close enough to home."

Q: What is your favorite memory while playing basketball here?

A: "Winning the SUNYAC championship for the first time in school history, that was definitely my favorite moment. Not more so than the moment, but everything we did up to that during the season."

Q: How have you been able to balance athletics, school and Greek life?

A: "It’s hard, it’s very hard, but you just have to be disciplined, which is why I’m glad that we have things like mandatory study hall and stuff like that because it helps you get stuff done. You definitely have to be mentally disciplined to not just go take a nap when you have work to do even though you might want to."

Q: What are you going to miss most about playing basketball at New Paltz?

A: "Just the whole team environment and have everyone fight for the same thing. Whether we’re playing pickup or whatever, we loved to play. It’s not going to be the same."

Q: What are your plans for after graduation?

A: "I want to go to grad school and get a good job in my field and get on into the real world."
