SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Marist women’s basketball team notched a 70-59 victory over Rider in the semifinal round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday at the MassMutual Center. The Red Foxes have advanced to the program’s 11th straight MAAC Championship game.

Senior Emma O’Connor led the way with a double double, including 23 points and 12 rebounds. She also had a team-high two blocks Sophomore Sydney Coffey had 18 points, and sophomore Madeline Blais added 14. Senior Casey Dulin became the 21st player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points. She added six points, five rebounds, and five assists in tonight’s triumph.

Marist did not trail in the contest. The first half was a defensive minded game, including 16 defensive rebounds for both teams and three blocks for the Red Foxes. The game was tied at 21 heading into the final five minutes of the second half. Marist only outscored Rider by one point to conclude the half. The Red Foxes led 29-28 at the break.

Marist pulled away to open the second half thanks to a 36-18 run over a span of 15:05. Rider outscored the Red Foxes 11-5 over the final minutes but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome the deficit as Marist defeated the Broncs, 70-59.
