BROOKLYN – The Mount Saint Mary College women’s basketball team was eliminated from the ECAC Metro Region Tournament on Saturday as Brooklyn College advanced to the finals with a 63-42 win in the semifinals. The Knights finish the season with an overall record of 18-10.
A three from sophomore Lauren Romao capped an opening 7-0 run for the Knights. Brooklyn answered with the next 16 points, and pushed the lead to as many as 13.
The Knights made a push to get back in the game early in the second half and clawed to within six on a three-point play from sophomore Rottisha Lewis at the 16:09 mark. The Bridges answered with a 7-0 run, though, and wouldn’t let the Knights within striking distance again.
Smith was the only Mount player to reach double figures with 12 points. Brooklyn junior Vanessa D’Ambrosi led all scorers with 16, while former Mount player and now Brooklyn senior Charnelle Saint Laurent poured in 14 points.
