NEWBURGH - The Mount Saint Mary College women’s basketball team coasted to a 78-57 win over Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon. With the win, MSMC moved to 3-3 on the year, while the Panthers dropped to 1-4.
The Knights rode an early 18-2 run to jump to a 16 point lead by the 12 minute mark. Old Westbury freshman Olivia Ilardi hit a jumper to break a Panther scoring drought that spanned five minutes.
The Knights were able to take advantage of Old Westbury turnovers, cashing in 20 points off of turnovers in the first half alone. After holding a 50-12 lead at halftime, the Knights cruised to a 78-57 win over the Panthers.
Sophomore Amanda Smith led the way for MSMC with 15 points, while senior Rachel Perrone and sophomore Lauren Romao added 14 points.
Freshman Raven Pentz and junior DeAndra Scott had 10 points each for the Panthers.
