NEWBURGH - Behind 19 points from junior Joe Stabach, Mount Saint Mary College rolled to an 80-41 victory over NYU-Poly in Skyline Conference action on Saturday. The Knights (7-5, 4-2 Skyline) won back-to-back games for the first time this season, while the Fighting Blue Jays (2-7, 1-4 Skyline) lost their fourth game in a row.
NYU-Poly opened the scoring with a three-pointer, but Mount Saint Mary responded with a 12-0 run and never looked back. Stabach hit a pair of triples and a dunk from junior Joe Henain made it 12-3, Knights.
Leading by six later in the half, the Knights ripped off a 16-0 run. Senior Ryan Straub hit back-to-back threes to create the spark, allowing the Mount to carry a 41-20 advantage into the half.
Another Stabach three opened the second half as the Knights pulled away. The Fighting Blue Jays would get no closer that 20 the rest of the way and the Mount cruised to victory.
Stabach led all scorers with 19 points. Junior Chris Pisciotta added eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds for the Knights.
Mount Saint Mary will next host Maritime College on Saturday, January 19th at 12:00 p.m.
