NEWBURGH – SUNY College at Old Westbury scored a 91-74 victory over Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers moved to 4-1 overall (2-0 Skyline), while MSMC dropped to 3-3 (1-1 Skyline).
Junior Joe Stabach hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to send the Knights to the locker room trailing by just one at halftime, 40-39. Old Westbury junior Kerel Mitchell hit from long range to open the second half, but Mount junior Joe Henain answered with back-to-back buckets to tie the game at 43. Old Westbury then rattled off 11 points to gain a 54-43 advantage with 15:49 to play. MSMC could only get as close as eight in the closing minutes.
Henain led the Knights with 20 points on 7-of-8 from the field and also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Stabach hit four times from three to finish with 15 points.
Sophomore Josh Hill scored a game-high 24 points for the Panthers, while Junior Tyrik Tucker completed a monster double-double with 20 points and 16 boards.
