NEWBURGH – Freshmen Jamie Testa (Prospect, Conn.) and Brianna Perazella (Cheshire, Conn.) were double-winners as the Mount Saint Mary College women’s swimming team defeated Hunter College, 107-91. The Blue Knights improved to 7-1 in dual meets.
Testa won the 50 freestyle in 27.95, the fastest time for a Mount swimmer so far this season. She also captured the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:07.06. Perazella was a winner in the 1000 freestyle (11:36.42) and the 100 breaststroke (1:17.32).
The Blue Knights also got individual event victories from freshman Kassie Kayal (Wayne, N.J.) and sophomore Sarah Pruschki (Walden, N.Y.). Kayal took home the 200 freestyle in 2:14.49, while Pruschki swam a season-best time in the 500 freestyle (6:32.33).
Freshman Megan Pierce (Moriches, N.Y.) finished right behind Pruschki in the 500 freestyle, also posting a season-best time of 6:33.88. Freshman Megan Whelan (Greenville, N.Y.) swam well in the 200 individual medley, finishing in a personal-best, 2:33.26. Sophomore Christina Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.) finished second in the 100 freestyle with a season-best time of 1:04.00.
Up next for the Blue Knights is a double dual meet with St. Joseph’s College and Regis College. The meet is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16.
