October 10th, 2012 Mount’s DiSilvio scores twice against Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE – Mount Saint Mary College sophomore Vanessa DiSilvio scored two goals on Saturday to help her team to a 2-1 victory over Farmingdale State College in a key Skyline Conference contest. The Knights improve to 9-2-1 overall (4-0-0 Skyline), while the Rams fall to 7-6-0 overall (2-2-0 Skyline).
With the teams scoreless after the opening half, DiSilvio broke through in the 53rd minute, putting home a pass from sophomore Jordyn Catapano.
Farmingdale answered in the 72nd minute, however, as senior Corine Magee finished off a feed from sophomore Andrea Kiefer to tie the game at 1-1.
Less than eight minutes later, DiSilvio came up with the game-winner, an unassisted tally in the 80th minute.
Mount junior goalkeeper Jacquelyn Mancini made five saves to earn the victory for the Knights.
By defeating Farmingdale, MSMC remains unbeaten in conference play and at the top of the standings. |
