POUGHKEEPSIE - Marist football seniors Jake Dembow (Merrimack, N.H.) and Obozua Ehikioya (West Hempstead, N.Y.) have been selected to play in the Eighth Annual East Coast Bowl Game. The game will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29 at noon in Petersburg, Va.
Dembow completed his four-year career with the Red Foxes by starting all 44 of the team's games since 2005. He was a three-year starter at right tackle from 2005-07 before making the switch to right guard this season. In 2008, Dembow was an integral part of an offensive line which allowed just 14 sacks and enabled the Red Foxes to average over five yards per carry and score 24 rushing touchdowns. Dembow was a First Team Academic All-District selection this season, and he was a semifinalist for the prestigious Draddy Trophy. Over the course of his career, Dembow was whistled for just two penalties.
Ehikioya, a five-year member of the program, concluded his Marist career holding the program records for touchdowns (49) and rushing attempts (728). He also holds the Red Foxes' Division I record for rushing yards with 3,585. This season, Ehikioya ran for a career-high 1,140 yards, averaged 5.9 yards per carry and scored 16 touchdowns.
The East Coast Bowl is comprised of players from Division I-Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III and the NAIA ranks. The game will pit players from the North against players from the South. Scouts from the NFL, Arena League, Arena2 League and Canadian League are scheduled to attend.
