NEWBURGH - Two Newburgh Free Academy athletes have signed letters of intent with prestigious institutions.
Linebacker Michael Cerisano signed a letter of intent to attend Division II Southern Connecticut State. Varsity Football Coach Bill Bianco said Cerisano will receive an athletic scholarship/grant package worth about $23,000 annually.
Offensive lineman Toussaint Helm signed a letter of intent to attend Division I Lafayette. Helm’s scholarship is worth about $57,000 annually.
The two students make the sixth and seventh players to sign a National Letter of Intent to play football on scholarship in the past four years.
"We are very proud of both of these young men and the commitment they have made to our program and their education. They have represented themselves, their families and the Newburgh Enlarged City School District to the best of their abilities and are role models to the entire student body. We are very proud of both student athletes and look forward to watching them continue their careers on the field," said Bianco.
