Newburgh Steelers to host Homecoming Day



Newburgh - The Executive Board of the Newburgh Steelers Pop Warner Inc. recently announced the creation of its 1st Annual Newburgh Steelers Football Inc. Homecoming on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

On this day, the theme will be family - parents and their children working closely together with the community, community organizations, business and community leaders /activists to achieve their collective dreams, illumining a brighter path for Newburgh.

The day will be filled with great food, music, entertainment, raffles and local singers performing the national anthem before each game. Local business owners will be in attendance to lend their support. We have asked local politicians to join us as a show of solidarity in Newburgh, to be a role model of unity to our community.

Newburgh Steelers Pop Warner Football needs sponsors and donations, and if interested you can contact Alyson Sweetser 845 430 8703 for pricing. There will be 6 games played:

• 10:00 a.m. - (Newburgh Steelers) Tiny Mite "B" vs. Highland - Stevenson Monchery, Head Coach. National Anthem sung by Triple AAA. Triple AAA is made up of Ali, Allegra and Amani Walker, directed by Anna Walker. There will be an appearance by City of Newburgh Democratic Mayoral Candidate Judy Kennedy.

• 11:00 a.m. - (Newburgh Steelers) Tiny Mite "A" vs. Beacon - Devon Lane, Head Coach. National Anthem sung by Triple AAA. Appearance by City of Newburgh Democratic Mayoral Candidate Judy Kennedy.

• Noon - (Newburgh Steelers) Mitey Mite vs. Peekskill - David Hemingway, Head Coach. National Anthem sung by Triple AAA. Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Presentation at Halftime.

• 1:30 p.m. - (Newburgh Steelers) Jr. Pee Wee vs. Peekskill - Doug Lamb, Head Coach. National Anthem sung by Aniyah Walters, Tatianna Alston and Adia Williams.

• 3:00 p.m. - (Newburgh Steelers) Pee Wee vs. Peekskill - Nate Lassic, Head Coach. National Anthem sung by Aniyah Walters, Tatianna Alston and Adia Williams. Appearance by City of Newburgh Mayor Nicholas Valentine.

• 4:30 p.m. - (Newburgh Steelers) Midget vs. Valley Cottage - Leon Williams, Head Coach. Half-time entertainment courtesy of D.A.M.B. (Dynamic Approach Marching Band), directed by Derrick Walters. Music courtesy of Scorpio.

Show your Newburgh Steelers Pop Warner Football Spirit and Pride by wearing Black and Gold.

Contribute to Newburgh Steelers Pop Warner Football by purchasing Black and Gold Newburgh Steelers Pop Warner Football T-Shirts at the concession stand, or baked goods from one of the team bake sales.

Volunteers of all ages are needed to help at the concessions, hand out flyers, etc. Please contact Alyson Sweetser if you are interested in volunteering some time that day, and to find out what assignments are available.

You can make it a Newburgh Steelers Pop Warner Football & Cheer - Black and Gold Weekend, by joining us the very next day, October 16th, as we travel to Poughkeepsie Mid Hudson Civic Center to compete in the Mid Hudson Conference Cheer Competition starting at 12:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The girls have been working really hard on their routines. The teams that place first or second will move to the Regional Qualifiers in Trenton, N.J. on October 29, 2011.
