POUGHKEEPSIE - Behind a strong performance from sophomore Matt Schumacher, Mount Saint Mary College defeated Vassar College, 7-3, in non-conference action on Wednesday. The Knights improve to 5-6 with the win.

Freshman Mike Leone led off the fourth with a single to left, stole second, and scored when junior Vinnie Carminati singled. Senior Michael Morelli followed with a double to left, plating Carminati.

In the sixth, Leone doubled to put runners at second and third. Senior Thomas McNoble followed with a two-run double and later scored on a sac fly from senior Michael Matuk.

The Brewers got three runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the Knights added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth when Carminati tripled and scored on a wild pitch and Morelli scored when Matuk stole second base.

Freshman Silverio Santiago pitched a scoreless eighth and senior Joe CoFrancesco followed with a scoreless ninth to put the game away.
