MSMC women’s volleyball team splits two at Skyline tri-match

RIVERDALE, NJ - The Mount Saint Mary College women’s volleyball team (14-18, 5-3 Skyline) went 1-1 in a Skyline Conference tri-match at the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Sunday. The Knights dropped a tough five-set match to Mount Saint Vincent, 3-2 (18-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-15, 10-15), but bounced back to sweep Purchase College, 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-16).

The two teams traded sets, leading to a victory for the host Dolphins. Mount Saint Vincent’s Maria Leineweber had a match-high 17 kills, while five Dolphins picked up double-digit digs. Sophomore middle blocker Kayla Kurka and freshman outside hitter Rachel Sabatini each threw down 11 kills. Freshman setter Claire Scully dished out 37 assists, while the Knights also had five players with double-digit digs.

The Mount rebounded in their second match of the day, hitting .342 against Purchase in a 3-0 victory.
