October 3rd, 2012 New Paltz tops Amherst and Hamilton in tri-match

CLINTON – The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team (17-3) closed out the month of September with a bang, topping Amherst College (6-4), 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23), before handing host Hamilton College (6-9) a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-19) setback on Saturday afternoon at Hamilton’s Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Both contests were non-conference matches.
Against Amherst, junior setter Marissa King paced the team with an impressive 47 assists and 25 digs. Senior outside hitter Michelle Jacobson added 18 kills and 24 digs.
Versus Hamilton, Jacobson led the way with 11 kills and 11 digs, while junior Carrie Hack came up with 16 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Alli Coleman patrolled the net defensively with three block assists and one block solo.
