Elmira - After going 1-1 on Friday night at the Elmira Invitational, the SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team (5-4) rebounded on Saturday, winning each match it played convincingly on the second and final day of the tournament, which was hosted by Elmira College. The Hawks won, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-20), against Hartwick College before downing Utica College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-9).
Junior middle hitter Dana Vosilla powered New Paltz to victory against Hartwick, as she had 10 kills on 15 total attempts for a .666 hitting percentage in addition to recording three blocks.
Against Utica, junior Eleanor Skovgaard led a balanced offense, as she had a team-high seven kills. Freshman outside hitter Alex Bizub had a team-high seven digs, while sophomore Brigid Moore dished out 22 assists.
New Paltz returns to the court next weekend when it hosts its annual Hawks Invitational from Sept. 16-17. On Friday, the Hawks face SUNY Fredonia and Mount Saint Mary College at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
