Edward Mackiel has been promoted to the rank of master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
Mackiel is currently deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The tactical operations center supervisor is regularly assigned at Sembach Air Base, Germany. The master sergeant has served in the military for 17 years.
He is the brother of Thomas J. Mackiel of Woodridge, N.Y. His wife, Pamela, is the daughter of Eileen Hamilton of Van Tuyl Road, Barryville, N.Y.
In 1987, Mackiel graduated from Narrowsburg Central High School, N.Y.
