Tuxedo Park Mayor seeks nomination

Dear Editor:

Historically significant, virescently landscaped and culturally diverse is how I would describe the Hudson Valley. As the current Mayor of Tuxedo Park, environmental crusader and Orange County’s own, I am seeking the Democratic nomination to represent the people and communities in the 18th district. For the past decade, I have lived and worked extensively in Orange County with my wife Alyssa. This has given me first hand experience of what makes the Hudson Valley a truly vital and unique part of New York.

The opportunity to protect my community sparked my interest and eventual dedication to public service. In 2006, I spearheaded the effort to found Tuxedo Land Trust to prevent a $15 billion dollar real estate developer from cutting down 2,300 acres of forest, jeopardizing clean drinking water for hundreds of thousands of residents in New York and New Jersey, and raising taxes in my community. I am proud to say that we made significant advances on this front proving that hard work and dedication are keys to effecting change.

After seeing our community repeatedly misrepresented and underserved by our current congressional representative, Nan Hayworth, I saw this as an opportunity to step up to the plate as the only Democratic candidate that can and will fight for the people in the Hudson Valley. My track record of meeting the needs of my constituents and advocating on their behalf speaks of a personal willingness and dedication to my position as a public servant. While the other candidates might have the best of intentions, the people in Newburgh, as throughout the rest of the district, need real solutions not rhetoric.

Serving the people of 18th district would be an honor and rare opportunity to make our visions of development and prosperity in the 21st century a reality.
It is important for each and everyone one of us to vote for the right candidate so that he could bring the fight to Nan and her Tea Party agenda. I encourage you to consider me, Mayor Tom Wilson, on June 26th to become the candidate who will successfully beat her in November.

Mayor Tom Wilson
Candidate for Congress
NY 18th Congressional District
