Newburgh - Newburgh Enlarged City School District Board of Education President Dawn Fucheck was recently recognized by the New York State School Boards Association for her outstanding commitment to excellence as a school board member and to Newburgh Enlarged City School District children and teachers. At a recent Board of Education meeting, Area Director Richard Feller presented Fucheck with the New York State School Boards Association Master of Boardsmanship Award and the Leadership in Governance Award to the applause of those in attendance.
According to Feller, the NYSSBA established an official statewide program of recognition for school board members and the Master of Boardsmanship Award is currently the highest honor bestowed by the Leadership Development Recognition Program.
In addition, the Leadership in Governance Award was developed to acknowledge those individuals who have successfully completed the series of eight intensive courses offered by the NYSSBA School Board Institute (SBI). Fucheck has participated in developmental events and activities totaling at least 200 credits, including completion of the eight SBI courses. Feller congratulated Fucheck for the extensive time, effort and commitment required to achieve the two awards.
