NEWBURGH – Mount Saint Mary College senior Christina Richichi has received the 2008-09 student of the year award from the New York State Cooperative and Experiential Education Association.
Richichi, a business management and administration major with a marketing concentration, has had internships in marketing with MTV Networks in New York City, the Mount’s Continuing Education Office and Laerdal Medical Corporation in Wappingers Falls. She is now interning with the college’s marketing department.
The Town of Newburgh resident is a strong supporter of cooperative education and internships and has spoken to potential students and their parents at admissions open houses. She also encourages her fellow students to visit the Career Center.
She said that her internships, particularly the one with Laerdal, have helped her discover her career path.
“I finally recognized that I have a calling to work in visual communications design,” Richichi said.
Richichi is very involved in the Mount. She is president of the senior class She helped start the Mount Alliance for Green Initiatives on Campus and has participated on and promoted the MSMC Dance Team.
Richichi is an outstanding student. She is on the Dean’s List and is a member of Alpha Chi, the national honor society for students from all disciplines, and Delta Mu Delta, the national honor society for accounting and business administration majors.
