John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship

Jonathon Davis

Jonathon Davis, a graduate of Wallkill High School and a resident of Wallkill, is the 2008 recipient of the John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship. Davis plans to major in Accounting at Morehouse College.

The John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship Fund was created through the Community Foundation by Walden Savings Bank in memory of John D. Garrison where he served as President. John was a fine community leader and businessperson, his goodness, kindness, and caring touched so many. Scholarship recipients were selected based on the following criteria: good character, community involvement, service-oriented, and college bound to study Business or Finance or higher education.

The John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship Fund is facilitated through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity that was created to help individuals, organizations, and businesses establish charitable endowments within their community. This fund is just one of many examples of how scholarship funds help create educational advancement. To create your own charitable endowment, or to add to an existing named endowment, contact the Community Foundation, Karen VanHouten, at (845) 769-9393 or e-mail vanhouten@cfoc-ny.org.
