The Newburgh Enlarged City School District has announced that recently the Optimist Club of New Windsor - Cornwall conducted its 1st Annual Law Enforcement Awards Recognition Dinner honoring NYS State Trooper Patricia Flynt, the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Heritage Junior High School (HJHS).
Trooper Flynt asked the club to spread the word to parents to get involved and keep up on what’s happening in their children’s educational lives by attending HJHS Compact meetings.
“I consider New York State Trooper Patricia Flynt to be a key member of our staff at Heritage Junior High School,” said HJHS Principal Joseph Raiti. “In her time with us she has served as a terrific resource, strengthening ties with local law enforcement agencies, providing key information regarding legal issues and local concerns, supporting our efforts to maintain a safe and orderly environment in which values are learned and learning is valued. In short, she is a critical component of what I view as a highly effective team,” said Raiti.
The Optimist Club is also the proud sponsor of the Heritage Student of the Month Program, a New Windsor girls softball team (The Sparrows), and many community service projects and programs. The Club prides itself on being a positive influence on community youth as it strives to "Bring Out the Best in Children.”
