Cadet Sentenced

WEST POINT – Cadet Orry R. Jones, H Company, 3rd Regiment, Class of 2009, was found not guilty on the charge of rape but found guilty for making a false official statement May 2.

Earlier May 1, Jones plead guilty to failing to obey a general order.  During a court-martial May 2, he was sentenced to dismissal from the U.S Army and forfeiture of all pay and allowances.

Jones was formally charged with one violation of Article 92 (Failure to Obey a General Order), one violation of Article 107 (Making a False Official Statement), and one violation of Article 120 (Rape), of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

“Cadet Jones’ behavior is inconsistent with the values of the Military Academy.  The judge found his actions to be in violation of the UCMJ and the standards of conduct of the U.S. Army,” said Director of Communications Col. Bryan Hilferty.
