Boys & Girls Club offers tools for back-to-school

NEWBURGH - With support from Michael’s, the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh kicks off the back-to-school season with the National Supply Drive, an in-store and virtual call for school supply donations to prepare kids and families in the Newburgh community for academic success in the 2013-14 school year.

"While more than 1 million American youth fail to graduate from high school each year, the truth is that many kids are falling behind in school, and life, before they even get started," said Kevin White, Executive Director. "Kids need basic school supplies, and through the National Supply Drive, these donations will help us provide the needed supplies for back-to-school to keep kids on track for academic success and a great future."

This August and September, the community can help the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh put thousands of school supplies in the hands of Boys & Girls Club members by donating supplies in local Michael’s store collection bins or visiting www.greatfutures.org/backtoschool.

The local Michael’s stores to make a donation are located at:

• 1245 Route 300, Newburgh, NY 12550-5007

• 2522 South Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-5468

"We are proud to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs to give kids the needed school supplies to better handle their workload and succeed academically," said, Michaels Stores, Inc. Chief Executive Officer, Chuck Rubin. "At Michaels, we believe in making a difference in the lives of our associates and customers by supporting organizations with a strong focus on families and children."
