Futerfas appointed to SUNY Ulster board

Rod P. Futerfas, an attorney and partner at the Kingston law firm, Wapner, Koplovitz & Futerfas, has been appointed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to SUNY Ulster’s Board of Trustees.

Futerfas was admitted to the bar in 1974 and was educated at both Syracuse University and Albany Law School. He is currently a member of the New York State Bar Association.

Futerfas served as Ulster County Assistant County Attorney from 1979 to 1980 and as a New York State Estate Tax Attorney from 1981 to 1990. He is currently an attorney for the Town of Woodstock and has at times been a town attorney for the Town of Rochester and special town attorney for the Town of Ulster.

Within the community, Futerfas has been involved as a Director of the United Cerebral Palsy of Ulster County, a Director of the Woodstock Fire Company No. 5 Emergency Rescue Squad, Inc., and also as a Commissioner of the Ulster County Charter Review Commission.

With this appointment, Futerfas replaces Susan McConekey, who served on the Board of Trustees for 16 years.
