Temple Hill scores with Fuel Up to Play 60

NEW WINDSOR - Temple Hill Academy in New Windsor had a special visitor for breakfast on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. The students in the classrooms of Barbara Lisi, Jaime MacArthur and Fran Weller were visited by former New York Giants running back Joe Morris, as a reward for their participation in the American Dairy Association (ADA) and the National Football League’s (NFL) Fuel Up to Play 60 program and Summer Touchdown Dance Challenge last June.

Morris met with the students to discuss the importance of healthy food choices and then led the students in a series of physical fitness activities.   In addition, representatives from the ADA designed interactive challenges for the students to participate in as part of the lesson.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a health and wellness program developed by the ADA and NFL.  The program features a playbook of activities that schools can implement to improve nutrition/exercise and reverse the trend toward increased weight and sedentary lifestyles among America’s youth.

Temple Hill Academy students are leading the way in reversing this trend evidenced by the active commitment of its’ dedicated teachers and students. In addition, Superintendent of Schools Ralph A. Pizzo, Board of Education President Dawn M. Fucheck, Food Service Director Andy Calvano and Assistant Superintendent for Finance Michael Pacella were in attendance for the event to show their support of the program on behalf of the district.
