May 30th, 2012 SUNY Sullivan salutes our active duty veterans
Loch Sheldrake - As the nation takes time out to remember the many sacrifices made by the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces, Dr. William Murabito, President of SUNY Sullivan, is proud to announce the SUNY Sullivan Veteran’s Outreach Award program.
“Call it a welcome home or a thank you program for our returning active duty veterans,” Dr. Murabito said, “but the bottom line is SUNY Sullivan wants to reach out to these special men and women and offer them an opportunity to either begin their academic journey or continue it by enrolling in one of the college’s many fine courses… for free.”
Any veteran who was released from active duty within the last year is eligible to be considered for the SUNY Sullivan Veteran’s Outreach Award. Veterans will be able to register for one course on a space available basis, offered in our summer accelerated program or in the 2012-2013 academic year.
Veterans will be placed on a waiting list and will be notified of their enrollment 10 days before the start of class in the selected academic session.
The cost of a three-credit course at SUNY Sullivan is currently $489.
“Once we’ve helped a veteran transition into the world of higher education,” Dr. Murabito added, “we want to do everything possible to encourage our veterans to consider completing a degree. And I believe once they see what we have to offer, they might decide to enroll at SUNY Sullivan on a full or part-time basis.”
