Assemblyman Marc Molinaro (R,I,C-Red Hook) was recently appointed by Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua) to sit on the Assembly’s influential Ways and Means Committee.
“Marc Molinaro has distinguished himself as a diligent and tireless legislator. His background in local government and service as former Chairman of the Dutchess County Legislature’s Budget, Finance and Personnel committee provides valuable experience and understanding of how to deal with difficult financial challenges, such as those currently facing our state government,” said Leader Kolb. “He will be a welcome addition to one of the Assembly's most important committees as we continue leading the fight to control government spending, deliver real property tax relief and build a stronger economy that creates more private-sector jobs for all New Yorkers.”
Members of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee are responsible for review, revisions and approval of all legislation pertaining to New York tax code or fiscal matters including the state budget.
"As we face unprecedented fiscal challenges and New Yorkers experience financial fear and uncertainty, I look forward to engaging in the detailed dialogue needed to deliver reform and relief. I am grateful to Minority Leader Kolb, for showing his faith in my abilities by selecting me to serve on the Assembly Ways and Means Committee. I will continue working with my colleagues, now, in this new capacity, to rein in spending, advocate for reform and lower the cost of living in the Hudson Valley and throughout our state."
Molinaro will continue to be Ranking Member on the Election Law and Libraries/Education Technology committees as well as serve on the Banks, Housing, Education, Local Governments committees and the Volunteer Emergency Services sub-committee.
