Orange County Jail To Board Federal Detaines

Ed Diana

Goshen- Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana and Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois today announced the signing of a contract with the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) to house ICE detainees.

“This contract between the County of Orange and ICE will result in a significant revenue stream for the County. In these difficult economic times we must continually seek to enhance revenue without burdening our taxpayers,” Diana said. “I want to thank Sheriff DuBois and his office for their hard work on this important project.”

Sheriff Carl DuBois, “I have my team always looking for ways to save money or create revenue. Previously, we were successful in boarding inmates from overcrowded jails in other counties. This resulted in well over 10 million dollars in revenue to Orange County,” DuBois continued. “This partnership with the Federal Government will continue to garner revenue for the County and I believe this is a great for ICE and Orange County.”

This agreement with the US Immigration and Customs Agency is estimated to provide over 4 million dollars of new revenue to the County of Orange.
