Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced that several area arts programs have been approved for state funding.
The Arts Society of Kingston, located at 97 Broadway, has been awarded $26,000 for information services and workshops.
Deep Listening Institute Ltd. on Cornell Street in Kingston has received $16,800 toward its music programs.
McPherson & Company on Smith Avenue in Kingston has received $12,300 under the Literature category for work on book publications.
Transart & Cultural Services in West Park has received $28,900 for electronic media and film exhibitions and special arts services.
The Washington Square Contemporary Music Society in Kingston has been awarded $6,500 to bring in professional music performances.
The Newburgh Performing Arts Academy on Grand Street in the City of Newburgh has been awarded $14,700 for instruction and training in special arts services.
The Glen E. Hines Boys & Girls Club on Liberty Street in Newburgh has received $14,700 for instruction and training in special arts services.
"Not only do the arts enrich our lives, but they also bring communities closer together," said Senator Larkin. "There is a clear link between the quality of a community’s social bonds and its economic health as well. Communities across the Hudson Valley have found ways to come together in the creation and celebration of the arts and culture. Art classes, concerts, parades and festivals naturally help strengthen other important goals such as economic development, civic participation, healthy living, and family cohesion. I am very pleased that these grants will help support our local communities in this way."
