June 3rd, 2008 Orange County Dems endorse Frank Skartados
Thursday night by a vote of 1152 to 156, Frank Skartados, a farmer in the Town of Marlborough and a businessman in Poughkeepsie, both in the 100th Assembly District, defeated Ron Ray of Beacon at the Orange County Democratic Convention in Middletown.
Mr. Skartados, in accepting the endorsement said, “ I want to thank Ms. Roxie Royal, Chair of the City of Newburgh Committee and Ms. Vanessa Tirado, Chair of the Town of Newburgh Committee for their support and advice – I will not let you down.”
Mr. Skartados plans to run a vigorous campaign, taking his ideas to all parts of the District. He plans to fight for school tax reform and green energy legislation. As a former teacher, he believes that we have to do a better job in educating our children.
“We have been represented for 14 years by Republican Assemblyman Tom Kirwan who has ignored large sections of our District. He has long-avoided speaking about the quality of life in some of the District’s inner cities and addressing the decline in good paying jobs in the Hudson Valley.” Mr. Skartados went on to say, “We must get our State’s economy off fossil fuel dependence which has been advocated by Bush-Chaney policies – both candidates and policies Assemblyman Kirwan has steadfastly supported.” |
