East Fishkill, Fishkill and the City of Beacon
The May 12 County Legislative Board meeting was opened with an invocation by the Reverend David E. Nolan, Pastor of St. Joachim & St. John the Evangelist Parish in the City of Beacon.
Also in attendance from the Parish was the 7th Grade JV Boys CYO Basketball Team. They won the New York Archdiocesan State Champions on April 5. A commendation was presented by Legislators John Forman and Alison MacAvery to team members: Marquis Browne, Chas DelBene, Mark DiRocco, Brett Gallio, Taj Humbert, Kyle LeClerc, Tony Romanelli, Patrick Schetter, Raymond Silva, Bryan Washington and their coaches: Head Coach Tony Romanelli, Phil DeCandia, Eric Schetter, and Program Director Mike Soltish.
| Following was a public hearing pertaining to an upcoming local law Requiring Pesticide Neighbor Notification.
The Legislature authorized the disbursements of Community Development Block Grants. The Village of Fishkill will receive $132,998 for Elm Street storm water management, the City of Beacon - $189,214 for infrastructure improvements, the Beacon Community Center - $21,200 and the Martin Luther King Cultural Center will receive $21,200. Also authorized to be distributed were monies from mortgage tax receipts collected from October 1, 2007 through March 31, 2008. The Town of East Fishkill is due $664,554.02, Town of Fishkill - $584,260.63 and the City of Beacon - $319,566.29. |
A Social Host law was passed by the legislature. This will hold those over the age of 18 responsible when they permit minors to consume alcoholic beverages at their residences. A resolution was passed asking the state senate and assembly to pass legislation to amend the county law in relation to county Master Electrician Licensing in the Dutchess County
The Legislature passed a request to the Dutchess County Department of Health to study the impact of chloraminated water, on the county residents who have reported illnesses that began when chloramine was introduced into their water systems. A resolution was passed confirming the appointment of Beacon resident, Maryellen Jawor to the Dutchess County Youth Board.
