Assemblyman Skartados Questions IBM’s Layoffs

Assemblyman Frank Skartados

Assemblyman Frank Skartados (D-Milton) was extremely disappointed to hear reports from recent Economic Development joint budget committee hearing that IBM will not be required to pay back tax credits and incentives received for job creation purposes, despite recent large layoff announcements in the Hudson Valley.

Assemblyman Skartados wants to know why:

"I want to know why the state won’t be clawing back these subsidies. When the state gives subsidies to IBM, we expect them to create jobs and to be committed to our community. When they don’t, the state must hold their feet to fire, and claw back subsidies that we were promised in exchange for jobs."
