James A. Slaughter Continues as Interim City Manager

NEWBURGH -At their regular meeting on November 25, 2013, the Mayor and City Council voted unanimously to extend the term of James Slaughter as Interim City Manager for up to six months. Originally hired in April of 2013 as Director of Planning & Economic Development, he has served as Interim City Manager since June.

Mayor Judy Kennedy commented, “Mr. Slaughter has done a good job handling multiple responsibilities since he was appointed as Interim City Manager.  However I believe that the incoming Council should have a say in who becomes the permanent City Manager.  I am committed to a thorough search process and to finding the most qualified candidate who can continue to steer the City in a positive direction.”
