Maloney mourns the loss of Muriel Siebert

NEW YORK, NY – Following the death of her longtime friend, Muriel "Mickie" Siebert, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (NY-12), who will speak at Mickie’s memorial, issued the following statement:

"Mickie Siebert was amazing to me, because, in some respects, she was like every other woman I have ever known – and in others – she was like no one else I have ever met. She was a trailblazer and a pathfinder, a leader and a friend. She was the first woman to hold a seat on the New York Stock Exchange, the first woman to serve as the Supervisor of Banking in New York and was the first to put a crack in the still existing glass ceiling of Wall Street. We will be ringing the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange today, in honor of Mickie and Women’s Equality Day. Her legacy lives on."
