NEWBURGH - Peter Orsino, Post Commander, and Ian Berkowitz, the Vice Commander, welcomed almost 80 veterans and guests to the John T. Kenney VFW Post 973 in the Town of Newburgh this past Saturday. A special Birthday Buffet was enjoyed by all, as the day marked the 90th anniversary of this Post.
Among all the Veterans in attendance at the event were WWII Veterans Jack Carlstrom, who served in the Pacific, and George Blaison, who served in Europe, along with many Veterans of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Orange County Legislator Mike Anagnostakis was also on hand to thank each Veteran and also presented the Post with a special Distinguished Service Award from the County.
“On your posts’ 90th anniversary, we honor your efforts and services that support our veterans who sacrificed so much to help defend the precious freedoms we enjoy in this great nation. God bless all our veterans,” said Anagnostakis. |
