KINGSTON - Julian Schreibman, Democratic candidate for New York’s 19th Congressional District, announced today that Congressman Maurice Hinchey, long-time champion of the working people of upstate New York, has endorsed his campaign for Congress.
“This is a historic and important election for the nation that will have lasting consequences. The representatives we elect this year will directly impact our quality of life, economy and the future of the middle class,” stated Hinchey. “The Hudson Valley and Catskill regions deserve and need a strong, progressive voice in Washington who will fight for them, and Julian Schreibman is the best candidate to do that.”
“I am deeply honored to have represented and served these regions of New York State for many years in both Washington and Albany. From my conversations with Julian, I know he shares the values and vision that inspired me throughout my career in public service, and I would be proud to have him succeed me in Congress. Julian will be an effective representative for our area and a champion on the issues that impact our region’s communities, including ensuring educational opportunities, promoting economic development and agriculture, spurring job creation, protecting our environment, and revitalizing our state’s failing infrastructure.”
“I am humbled and honored by Congressman Hinchey’s endorsement,” said Schreibman. “My family and I have been represented by Maurice since I was two years old and continuing his legacy of service is one of the reasons I decided to run for Congress, so his endorsement means a great deal to me.”
“I am running for Congress because I have been blessed to live the American Dream and I want to make sure that all of our children know the same possibilities that I have had. As a Prosecutor here in the Hudson Valley I stood up to bullies and cheaters. If you send me to Congress I will take the same fight to the Republicans in Washington who want to dismantle Medicare, who refuse to protect our air and water, and are trying to force the government between women and their doctors”
New York’s 19th Congressional District now encompasses all of Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Schoharie, Sullivan and Ulster counties and part of Broome, Dutchess, Montgomery and Rensselaer counties. Approximately 40% of Maurice Hinchey’s 22nd District has been placed in the new 19th District. Congressman Hinchey has served ten terms in Congress and is retiring at the end of this year. |
