Happy Thanksgiving

New York Governor David Paterson.
New York Governor David Patterson released the following statement regarding Thanksgiving:

“This Thanksgiving, many New Yorkers are doing more with less, stretching dollars a bit further and making sacrifices both big and small. But today, we shift our focus from what we don’t have to all that we do and for which we are grateful.

“This holiday is about sharing and service. Here in Albany, more than 1,000 volunteers will come together as part of the 40th Annual Equinox Community Dinner to serve 8,500 Thanksgiving meals to their neighbors in need. Their volunteerism exemplifies the spirit of this holiday, and I am grateful for the opportunity to join them.

“During this season of peace, we also honor the service of our men and women in uniform. We extend our gratitude to their families and commit to treating each other with the respect worthy of the work to keep our country safe.

“Across New York, we come together today to give thanks. It is my hope that throughout this holiday season, we capture this sense of gratitude and spirit of service as we continue to put New York back on the path to economic recovery.

“On behalf of the entire Paterson family, I wish all New Yorkers a safe and happy Thanksgiving.”
