NEWBURGH – Johnes-Holden Home resident Tony Pavlik recently celebrated his 102nd birthday with friends and family at the senior residence on Balmville Road in Newburgh.
A four-year resident of the Home, Pavlik was born in Czechoslovakia, raised in New York City and settled in Newburgh with his family at age 25. His wife, Mary, passed in 1992 after the couple was married for 60 years. With Pavlik’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the birthday celebration, four generations were represented.
“These people are my dad’s second family,” said Betty Bardin, one of Pavlik’s daughters, of the residents and employees at The Johnes-Holden Home. “Our family is beyond pleased with the care and love they provide.”
An affiliate of St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, the Home can accommodate 31 residents and is among the Hudson Valley’s premier residences for senior living. Residents enjoy the comforts of home in a sprawling stone mansion that offers a safe, warm and caring environment. Services offered include daily home-cooked meals, housekeeping and recreational activities such as day trips to Broadway shows, dance and yoga classes, educational presentations and walking club.
