Newburgh - A division wide fundraising event at UPS Freight Forwarding raised $1,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mentoring programs, and demonstrated Newburgh employees’ champion dedication to the charity.
Organized by Sandie Bono at the UPS Freight Forwarding JFK Facility, this fundraiser encouraged each Service Center to select their favorite sports team and have employees wear the team’s jersey to work for a $3 donation. Employees at the Newburgh location simultaneously held an office bake sale to raise additional funds for the youth program, baking and then buying the baked goods for an average of $5.19 per person.
Newburgh was the center with the highest amount raised per employee. They won all of the money collected in the Northeast Division, and donated the funds to their selected United Way charity, Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"This fundraiser helps us build stronger kids—helps us provide mentors and life skills education to our youth" said Marci Gurton, BBBS Director of Resource Development. "We so appreciate the stellar job done by UPS Freight Forwarding, and we know how much fun it was for their team, too. It’s wonderful to see a business invest in helping us change the way kids grow up in America."
