Daniella Raquel Jones honors Black History

Daniella Raquel Jones

Newburgh - Honoring our African American past and celebrating our future, accomplished soprano Daniella Raquel Jones will be performing in Daniella Raquel: Soprano in Concert: Celebrating the Contributions of African American Music under the direction of Gregory H. Hopkins, on February 23rd at Baptist Temple, 7-11 William Street in Newburgh, NY at 6pm.

A native of White Plains, New York, and raised in Newburgh, NY Daniella has always had an affinity for the arts. She is a graduate of the Weis-Barron School of Art in New York where she studied music and theater. In her college career at Hampton University where she majored in Biology/Pre-Med, she joined the University Choir and the Traveling Concert Choir, her energy was absolutely infectious and soon she became the Assistant Road Manager for Traveling Choirs. She became the first student road manager to supervise the touring schedule of any traveling choir at the University.

The concert will display Jones’ talent as a talented vocalist as she sings in four different genres: classical, spiritual, gospel and jazz. "This concert expresses the struggle and success of African American Music and it is an honor to be able to share and sing in four different genres. During Black History Month it is most appropriate to share the music that African Americans have influenced, to share what it called music the universal language," says Daniella Raquel Jones.

Expect from this night, to hear and experience the contributions that African Americans have made to all different types of music. A voice like Daniella’s is one that you do not hear often, her expression in all of her presentations takes you on a journey. Daniella brings her own unique style to every piece that she presents, while still maintaining the root of the music.
