POUGHKEEPSIE - Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant contestants visited Dutchess County on July 5 and 6. Dutchess County Tourism (DCT) Executive Director Mary Kay Vrba and DCT Communications Manager Nancy Lutz hosted the contestants, representatives of the Pageant and Chinese media members for a tour of the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park, the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site, and The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum.
This was the third day of their week-long tour of New York State to see firsthand all that New York offers. The group of 38 stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Poughkeepsie on Saturday night.
This year marks the 12th anniversary of Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant. Co-hosted by TVB (USA), the largest TV production empire in Hong Kong, the pageant’s motto is "Ignite Today’s Dream, Achieve Tomorrow’s Splendor". It’s helped many contestants achieve their dreams by becoming successful actresses and models. The Pageant provides a rigorous, competitive and diverse environment for all the applicants, where they receive professional training and performance opportunities.
The winner represents East USA to participate in the "Miss China International Competition" in Hong Kong hosted by TVB HK. In addition to Winner, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up, this year’s Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant will also award the Most Talented, Most Photogenic, Most Perfect Body, Most Popular Online, Best Costume, Miss Congeniality as well as Audience Favorite, which will be voted on by the audience in the final show.
