NEWBURGH - The Newburgh Rowing Club supported "Newburgh Illuminated" during the weekend long celebration with rides around the Polly, a Regatta, and an Illuminated Water Parade, said Coach Ed Kennedy, Director of Programs for the Newburgh Rowing Club.
On Saturday, June 21st, the rowing club ferried visitors around the "Polly" at Downing Park in gig boats, canoes, and kayaks all afternoon for free.
"The boat rides by the Newburgh Rowing Club are one of the highlights of this event," said Chuck Thomas, an organizer of Newburgh Illuminated.
The NRC also showcased a Newburgh Illuminated Lightbulb, sponsored by LoBiondo Law Offices, at the top of the NRC entrance, painted by artist Rich Hanlon with the Hudson River by day on one side and the Hudson River by night on the other.
On Sunday, the NRC hosted the "Coach Ellis F. Ward Commemorative Newburgh Regatta" and an Illuminated "water parade" on the Hudson River of gig boats and kayaks, illuminated with battery operated lights, which lit up the evening sky, thereby closing the Newburgh Illuminated ceremonies.
