NFA Crew Team Hosts 2nd Annual Super Event of Caring

Crew members and food collections at event with Coaches Ed Kennedy & Edwin Cunningham.

NEW WINDSOR – The Newburgh Free Academy High School Crew Team hosted their 2nd Annual Super Event of Caring at the New Windsor Marasco Center on Feb 1st. The event was a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser to benefit the team along with a food drive to support the New Windsor Food Pantry.

Darryl Sheridan, President of the Friends of Newburgh Crew, Inc. the 501c3 organization that fully funds the team, shared that the event was a success for the team and the pantry. Darryl, also a New Windsor resident, shared "I would like to personally thank all the supporters who helped make this possible especially the 4 local restaurants that donated food trays and the 10 businesses that generously offered gift certificates. Special thanks also to the New Windsor Town Recreation for partnering with us. We’re very happy to have collected and delivered over 4 boxes of non perishable items. The team is always happy to work with the community" "Additionally and in true crew team fashion, we shared our unused cooked items with another organization that helps others, the Ecclesia Ministries in the City of Newburgh. They serve some of the area’s homeless"

From the Director of Parks, Recreation, Buildings & Grounds for the Town of New Windsor, Matt Veronesi, "Thank you very much to the NFA Crew Team and Friends of Newburgh Crew for their Food Drive that they had at their Spaghetti Dinner. Besides raising needed money for the Team they were generous enough to help support the New Windsor Food Pantry that services over 100 families. We could not operate the Food Pantry if it wasn’t for generous organizations such as them."

From Ruth Ruelke, Board Member of Ecclesia Ministries, "Thank you so much to all who were involved in donating all the spaghetti, sausage, meatballs, sauce and bread. We were able to provide food for 75 who really appreciated the meal. For so many the need is so great. It means so much to have a warm meal on a cold day. Thank you so much for thinking of us".
